Prime Minister Hesham Qandil is to submit to President Mohamed Morsi the cabinet’s recommendations for finding a political solution to the current crisis in Egypt.

At a cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning Qandil stressed “the government’s commitment to take responsibility for the nation and all citizens without discrimination in such difficult circumstances.”

Qandil has been delegated to present the cabinet’s “recommendations and proposals to the President… to participate in the initiatives of a political solution and to get out of the current crisis,” according to a statement released by the cabinet following their meeting.

Qandil said during the meeting that he is yet to decide on the resignations submitted by five ministers (Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Environment, Communications and Legal Affairs). He said that the ministers would continue to perform their duties pending a decision.

The resignations of ministers began following an announcement on Monday by the armed forces that they will implement a roadmap for the country if the presidency and the opposition could not resolve their differences within 48 hours.
