Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood Mohamed Badie, his deputy Khairat El-Shater and senior Brotherhood member Rashad Bayoumi were referred to the Criminal Court on Wednesday for inciting the killing of protesters.
Tarek Al-Morsi, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) spokesman, described the decision as “political pressure” on the Brotherhood and Morsi supporters, adding that the judicial system that put this decision forward is “instable” and “disrespectful towards the law.”
Bayoumi was arrested on 3 July, while El-Shater was arrested on 5 July.
FJP Head Saad Al-Katatni and former supreme guide Mahdi Akef were detained for an additional 15 days, according to Aswat Masriya.
Arrest warrants have also been issued for preacher Safwat Hegazy, senior Brotherhood member Mohamed Al-Beltagy, FJP Vice Chairman Essam Al-Erian, former Minister of Youth and Brotherhood member Ossama Yassin and senior Brotherhood member Mahmoud Ezzat.
