Interim president Adly Mansour thanked Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud for “standing with Egypt against terrorism” and assured that Saudi Arabia and Egypt would “remain pillars of stability” in the Arab region in a letter sent on Saturday.
The Saudi King said his Kingdom stood with Egypt in confronting terrorism in a televised speech on Friday, and called upon Egyptians to take a “one-man stand” toward any attempt at destabilising Egypt’s historic role in the Arab and Islamic world.
Mansour said he appreciated Saudi Arabia’s judgment about Egypt’s threats and stated that the Arab world needed to listen to the king.
The letter also stated that Egypt was able to overcome several obstacles and was blessed with victories derived from defending its Arabic and Islamic identity.
Mansour added that Egypt would continue to halt terrorism, “which has threatened citizens and the country’s national security.”
He also condemned acts of putting up Al-Qaeda flags in Cairo and also denounced attacks on houses of worships and strategic areas.
