President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s mother, Soad Ibrahim, passed away early on Monday, a funeral is expected Monday afternoon in fifth settlement district.
The presidency issued a short statement Monday morning announcing her death. The statement also said the funeral would be only for the president’s family.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb cut short a visit to Luxor to attend the funeral in Cairo that will take place at Hussein Tantawy mosque in east Cairo.
Reports on the deteriorating health conditions of Al-Sisi’s mother, were treated discretely since the start of August.
