CAIRO: In the fashion world colors come and go, but although every season has its hits, some are recycled and some never leave. So which colors do we bring out from the back of the closet?
Although runways have seen plenty of colors for the summer, soft faded half tones are the dominant chic for the upcoming season with white leading the way.
White, the basic color that never leaves wardrobes regardless of the season’s fashion, saves costs on shopping, as you probably own a lot of it already. It looks great by itself and on basically any other color on the spectrum.
Today, the theme is trendy femininity with a touch of nostalgia, and the perfect colors to emphasize this are white and washed out pastels, like blush pink, beige and off-white. Patterns are welcomed as long as they are simple and soft on the delicate and wispy designs.
More neutral colors can be paired with each other beautifully, again emphasizing the ultra-feminine look.
While white matches the natural look that is booming this summer, it could also be mixed with red and navy to give a preppy crisp look that is also fashionable and flattering.
You can also opt for the classical white and black combo; it is everywhere this season, in solids, prints, embellished pieces, separates, dresses, swimwear and accessories. Black and white suit everyone and all occasions.
This doesn’t mean, however, that you should throw out all the bright colors in your wardrobe; funky, vibrant and candy colors will please those who dislike the misty modest tones.
All colors that have a blue base acquired a new level of respect this summer. Cooler tones include lilac, amethyst, viola, lavender, deep rich ultramarine and indigo. Then there are the different shades of blue like skyway, cobalt blue and the stunning tone of turquoise, which exist somewhere within your overcrowded wardrobe.
When it comes to accessories, it’s all about metallic. For the past three years they have been at war trying to establish a place in the fashion world, and this year it is hard to miss the shimmer on all the models, whether footwear or held in hands.
If you don’t already own a pair of metallic sandals, gold, silver or bronze, go out and invest in some; this is crucial for your summer wardrobe. Chances are you already own a pair as they have been around for a while now. The same goes for the metallic bag, another must have for the summer. They match everything and look great during the day as well as at night.
Now is the time to reassemble your closets, it’s that easy to be hip.
