The whole Arab world is of course very sad for what s happening now. It really hurts every Arab living in this region to see the sordid condition of Lebanon.
In my point of view, the declarations, statements and speeches made by the Arab leaders in this region are really pathetic. It s not enough to call for cease-fire. I think that military intervention is very important now, since Israel has violated international law and international conventions.
Waiting for the U.S., as usual, to put an end to this crisis will never work. America is a strong supporter of Israel and the country’s policy in the Middle East. The U.S. always uses its veto in order to cancel any decision in favor of Arabs and against America s and Israel s interests. The U.S. controls the United Nations by using this right of veto: it has used it 76 times before.
So I think it s better not to wait for the American solution. [Arab League Secretary General] Amr Moussa already declared that the operation of peace with Israel has failed. That s why all the Arab countries should respond fiercely to the barbaric Israeli raids. It s a war in the full sense of the word.
It s not about two captured Israeli soldiers; it is a preordained plan of an entire political system that was going to be carried out one way or another. The soldiers are a mere pretext, and nothing else.
I m really astonished at such a violent policy: they destroy a whole country, killing hundreds of people, for the sake of two? By doing so, Israel strengthens its position, and makes others think a thousand times before attacking it.
What caught me by surprise is the reaction of other countries like Germany and France; they have not condemned Israel until just now. As everyone knows, they face pressure from the United States too.
Israel is attacking Lebanon because it s a small country with a limited army. But it cannot do the same thing with a country like Egypt for instance, or Syria and Iran. I believe that if these countries gather up, with the help of rich Gulf countries, we will make history.
I m not saying that all the Arab countries should be fully involved, but I am asking for military support. This massacre will never come to an end without sticking together and standing by one another s side because what s happening now in Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq is going to be repeated again and again throughout the rest of the Arab countries. Without taking firm decisions now, the Arab countries run the risk of letting Israel s dreams of expansion continue until they take the very last inch of our land.
