CAIRO: An Egyptian and his son died when the hole they were digging to find treasure collapsed on them in the early hours of Sunday, the state news agency MENA said. A magician had persuaded Ramadan Mohamed Baraka, a 55-year-old driver, that the treasure was buried under his house in Senhour village 80 km southwest of Cairo, it said. Baraka, his son and seven hired workers had dug six meters down when the workers stopped to eat before the Ramadan fast starts at dawn.

Baraka and his son, 35, stayed behind and were killed in the collapse. Reuters
