CAIRO: The government will present early next week a number of business opportunities to Arab and international investors at the Cairo Investment Forum. Over 1000 participants are expected to attend this year s event.

A senior official at the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones said the Ministry of Investment will present opportunities in various promising sectors, such as financial and banking services, mortgage services and opportunities in the transport, telecom, tourism and agricultural sectors.

The official pointed out that the forum aims to provide an introduction to the business climate in the Arab region as well as the trade opportunities opening up in the region.

Cairo has been in a flurry with events in recent years which are designed to encourage the inflow of increasing amounts of foreign capital to Egypt.

Total foreign investment inflows are projected to hit $8 billion during the new fiscal year, up from $6.1 billion in the fiscal year 2005-6.

Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif’s visit to Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on top of a government and business delegation was successful in sealing agreements on several large projects, including a $15 billion tourism project on the Red Sea Coast.
