The actress was imprisoned twice, once for drug possession and another for manslaughter, but she always managed to pick her self up and start again with an admirable zest.
On Saturday, El Khatib’s last struggle succumbed to diabetes and related complications.
She is survived, however, by a legacy of cinematic films, TV productions and stage-performances. Between the three venues she played an array of different roles. Her rich career covered comedy, drama, artistic films and commercial blockbusters.
She was awarded for many of her roles including “Ya Donia Ya Gharamy (I Love You World), “Toffaha (Apple) and “Za’er El Fajr (The Dawn Visitor). She was also recognized for her participation in films like “Dalal El Masrya (Egyptian Dalal), “Tharthara Fawq El Nil (A Drift on the Nile) and the TV serial “Ya Regal El Alam Etehedo (Men of the World, Unite).
