CAIRO: Five children were run down by a pickup truck during the Eid Al-Adha holidays as they attempted to cross the Autostrad street, reported the local press.
The car which fled the scene killed one female child and injured the other four, one of whom is the brother of the dead child.
Israa Khaild, 5, succumbed to her injuries before she was taken to the hospital.
Her brother Mahmud, 5, her sister Amani, 9, and their friend Fatama Saed, 6, are suspected to be suffering chronic brain hemorrhages as a result of the accident.
The children were hit by the fleeing car as they tried to cross the road to play in a park located nearby.
