MAINZ, Germany: Egyptian international striker Mohammed Zidan has signed for struggling Bundesliga club Mainz 05 after failing to make his mark at table-toppers Werder Bremen.

Zidan, 25, signed a contract that will see him at Mainz until 2010, with Bremen believed to have received 2.5 million euros for the Egyptian s services.

Zidan moved to Bremen in January 2005 from Danish club Midtjylland and was loaned out last season to Mainz where he scored nine goals in 26 matches.

His return to Bremen has been less illustrious, however, the Egyptian scoring only once in his limited number of games.

Mainz are currently bottom of the Bundesliga, with just one win and 11 goals scored in their 17 matches played.
