CAIRO: The Muslim Brotherhood opposition group on Saturday lashed out at the leaders of the rival Palestinian factions, holding them responsible for the bloodshed in the Palestinian territories.

Deadly clashes between supporters of the ruling Hamas movement and loyalists of President Mahmoud Abbas s Fatah party have resulted in the deaths of at least 23 people since Thursday.

We hold all Palestinian leaders responsible for the spilling of blood… without differentiating between one movement or another, the Islamist group s supreme guide Mohammed Mehdi Akef said in a statement.

All the authorities… are not worth one drop of blood or even the nail of a Palestinian fighter. They speak responsible words and yet the fighting continues, said Akef.

We call on all parties to expel those who incite sectarianism and agents of colonialism and to let them face justice, he said.

The authority and the government should behave in a way that shows they are the authority and the government of all the Palestinians, not of one faction or another, Akef said.
