CAIRO: Egypt scored a goal late in each half and upset Sweden 2-0 in a Wednesday friendly to honor the 50th anniversary of the African soccer confederation.
Amr Zaki converted Ahmed Hassan s cross in the 44th minute with a well-placed header into the right of the goal beyond Swedish goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson.
Ahmed Fathi added another from a goalmouth scramble, scoring amid a crowd of six, in the 88th to complete the victory.
Egyptian controlled nearly throughout the match, missing several other scoring chances. Sweden appeared unusually slow, choosing to defend from the midfield.
The crowd of about 30,000 in Cairo Stadium included CAF president and FIFA vice president Issa Hayatou of Cameroon.
