CAIRO: World Cup winning coach Marcello Lippi is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Thursday at the request of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to conduct a series of workshops for local coaches.

The EFA has organized a press conference for the former Italy boss upon arrival, spokesman Medhat Shalabi told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

“Mr Lippi has accepted the invitation extended to him by the EFA to give a series of workshops and lectures to Egyptian national team and club coaches, Shalabi said.

“His stay in Cairo is limited to 48 hours only as he has other commitments to attend to, he added.

The veteran tactician guided Italy to their first World Cup victory in 24 years when they beat France in the 2006 final 5-4 in a penalty shootout after both the regular and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lippi, 58, has previously coached Italian giants Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli among others.
