CAIRO: Ismaili goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi blocked a stoppage-time penalty to help his side claim a 2-2 away draw with Madagascar side Ajesaia in the first-leg of the Confederation Cup round of 32.
The Dervishes went one down in the 15th minute but midfielder Mohamed Soliman Hommos leveled the score four minutes before the break.
Hommos escaped his markers to head home Ahmed Al-Gamal s pinpoint cross from close range.
Mohamed Mohsen Abou-Greisha put Ismaili ahead just two minutes later when he towered to head Sayed Moawad s cross from the right-flank into the back of the net.
Ismaili could have easily extended their lead but Abou-Greisha, Moawad and Abdullah Al-Saied squandered a host of chances in front of goal.
The club had to play the majority of the second-half with ten men on the field after Hosni Abd-Rabou was sent off one minute past the hour mark for a second bookable offense.
Ajesaia dominated the game after Abd-Rabou s dismissal and succeeded in grabbing the equalizer four minutes from time.
They were awarded a controversial penalty in stoppage time when Al-Gamal allegedly brought down an Ajesaia forward.
But Sobhi dived to save the penalty and secure a draw for Ismaili.
