KUWAIT CITY: A triple-vehicle collision involving a bus carrying Americans killed three people and injured 17 others in northern Kuwait on Wednesday, the official Kuwait News Agency reported.

An Interior Ministry official, Lt. Adel Al-Hashash, told the agency that one American and two Egyptians were killed, but he did not provide their names or say if the American was serving in the US military.

Neither the US Embassy nor military would comment immediately.

Al-Hashash said the accident began when a pickup truck driven by one of the Egyptians collided with the bus carrying the Americans, which then hit another bus.

He did not say whether any of the casualties had been on the second bus.

Kuwait is a major logistics base for US and other coalition troops serving in neighboring Iraq.
