CAIRO: Egypt coach Hassan Shehata has called-up Al Ahly skipper Shadi Mohamed for the first time since 2003 in his 23-man squad for Mauritania game in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Sunday.
Tersana uncapped goalkeeper Ahmed Saad has been also included while Harras Al-Hodoud midfielder Abdul-Salam Nagah will take part in his first competitive action with the national team.
Six players were named from Ismaili, four from Egyptian champions Al Ahly and just two from Zamalek. Five European-based players were selected but Ahmed Hossam Mido is missing.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker sustained an ankle injury during his side s 3-1 Premiership victory over Watford.
Egypt assistant manager Shawki Gharib told FilGoal.com that the team will begin a closed camp on Tuesday in sixth of October city until the Mauritania game four days later.
The Pharaohs are on top of Group B with four points, one ahead Mauritania and Burundi, who lie second and third respectively.
