Five thousands tons of wheat found infected with carcinogens

CAIRO: The economic committee in the People’s Assembly advised the Egyptian government to destroy some five thousand tons of wheat which were reported to be infected with cancer-causing elements, the daily Al Masry Al Youm reported.

The infected wheat which was found in Dakahelia city is hazardous to human consumption, the paper reported.

When contacted by The Daily Star Egypt, the Egyptian National NGO for Consumer Protection and the Central Egyptian Society for Consumer Protection were unavailable for comment.
