CAIRO: A cell phone solved a horrific crime mystery two hours after it had transpired in Obour City, reported the local Al Wafd daily. The killer had dragged his best friend, a mechanic, to a construction site where he stabbed him 20 times.

The alleged perpetrator made off with the murder victim’s money and his mobile phone. The body of the victim, Ahmed Mutwaa, was taken to hospital but a cell phone was found at the murder scene. Investigations showed that the killer, Nabil Seifedin, had a relationship with the victim’s wife, Jihan Mohamed Ali, and that both conspired to get rid of him and steal his belongings. But after he committed his hair-raising crime, the murderer dropped his cell phone at the crime scene. As police combed the the area, they stumbled upon the phone when it rang out of the blue.

As luck, or bad luck, would have it the killer’s mistress was calling to be updated on the crime. But instead of hearing her lover’s voice, she found herself talking to the police. Both were arrested and confessed to their crime.
