CAIRO: A 14-strong delegation from Abseron Rayonu, the biggest governorate in Azerbaijan is to arrive in Cairo tomorrow for a five-day visit. This comes at the invitation of Qalubeya Governor Adly Hussein, said Faiq Bagirov, ambassador of Azerbaijan in Cairo.
Bagirov said the delegation, led by Governor Faragov Zakir, will meet with Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abul Naga on Wednesday and Saturday to prepare for the third round of the joint inter-governmental committee in Baku next November. Abul Naga is to head the Egyptian delegation to the committee meeting.
The delegation includes officials from health, education, culture and reconstruction departments along with a host of businessmen. They will meet with representatives from the Ministries of Health, Education, and Culture as well as heads of the Arab Contractors company, the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors, Ghabour Egypt for manufacturing buses, Crystal Asfour, and Toshiba-Egypt. The delegation will also tour Qalubeya, Bagirov said.
During Azeri President Ilham Aliyev s visit to Egypt last May, the governors of Abseron and Qalubeya signed a memorandum of understanding to foster cooperation in all domains. Trade exchange between Egypt and Azerbaijan is still at less than $5 million, but Egypt has helped Azerbaijan lately in the construction of its third mobile company. Steps are being taken to set up a joint venture in Azerbaijan for producing vaccines with Egypt’s Vaxera. Moreover, Egyptian physicians are to run an Azeri hospital, which is currently under construction.
