CAIRO: Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef revealed on Sunday that the club has rejected Catania s $450,000 bid to buy him for next season.

I sat down with chairman Mamdouh Abbas and he told me that Zamalek did not accept Catania s offer, Abdul-Monsef told FilGoal.com.

The Zamalek stand-in guardian, whose contract runs out at the end of next season, is ready to commit his future to the Cairo giants if the club gives him a pay raise.

I currently earn LE 400,000 per season. I m ready to extend my contract for two more years if Zamalek s offer is financially worthy. Otherwise, I will sign a deal with Catania in January and join them next summer if their interest still exists at the time, he added.

Abdul-Monsef was heavily criticized by Zamalek fans, who accused him of being responsible for the team s Arab Champions League exit at the hands of Jordan s Al Faisali.

However, his performance at the end of this season earned him the media’s thumbs up as he replaced regular goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed.
