CAIRO: The Egyptian Higher Council of Sports informed the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) that the elections for the next board will be held in 2009.
The election process is supposed to take place every four years. The last elections were held in 2005.
However, the EFA are likely to request a one-year extension to the timing of the next elections, as the current board members were actually appointed in 2006.
EFA president Samir Zaher beat candidate Hadi Fahmi in 2005 to take charge of the Egyptian football governing body.
