CAIRO: The People s Assembly (PA) started debating the draft of a new law suggested by the Ministry of Health, regarding providing a clinic for psychological health in every city, according to Dr. Farid Ismail, member of the health committee at the PA.
Ismail is very pleased with the Ministry s initiative to enhance the psychological health of its citizens. More than 20 percent of Egyptians suffer from depression, he explained
According to the new law, all cities of Egypt will have a national center for psychological health in which judges, along with governmental authorities, will be appointed to supervise the clinics and ensure that patients have all their legal rights.
Ismail added that the new law will help make the public accept the concept of psychological illness.
