Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni announced that a duck-shaped Alabaster food vessel returned to Egypt yesterday, 25 years after it was stolen and smuggled out of the country.

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Zahi Hawass said the duck, which dates back to the reign of the 12th dynasty King Amenemhat III, was part of the collection discovered by the German mission working around the pyramid of Amenemhat III in Dashur archaeological area south of the Giza plateau.

All legal procedures have been taken in collaboration with the Egyptian consulate in New York and US officials to bring the distinguished piece back to Egypt.
