CAIRO: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) Vice President Ahmed Shobeir revealed that an official proposal has been sent to the English FA in order to arrange a friendly game between the two nations.
We proposed a friendly against England and we are waiting for their response, Shobeir told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.
The English FA are free to choose the date and venue of the fixture.
Shobeir said that the game is intended to serve as a warm-up for Egypt s 2008 African Nations Cup campaign in Ghana next year despite the fact that the team is yet to secure a place in the finals.
Egypt are currently top of Group 2 of the African qualifiers with eight points, just one point ahead of second-placed Botswana.
The Egyptians will take on Ivory Coast in a friendly in France on Wednesday, in preparation to their qualifier game against Burundi next month.
