CAIRO: Ahly filed an official request to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to provide more protection to their players in domestic competitions.
The Egyptian champions official site stated that the club filed a complaint to the FA, claiming that Ahly players are suffering from intentional aggression during league games.
The African champions are claiming that their players were being subjected to some harsh tackles in their last 3-2 league win over Ghazl Mahalla.
Ahly s plea also included offering protection to other teams players, in order to help the national team qualify to the 2008 African Nations Cup in Ghana.
Meanwhile, Ahly coach Manuel Jose recalled youth team defender Mohamed Samir to the squad which will face Harras Al-Hodoud in the league game on Tuesday, in order to provide backup for injured Ahmed Al-Sayed and suspended Wael Gomaa.
