Petrojet crush ENPPI to stay in race

CAIRO: Petrojet swept 3-1 past Enppi on Wednesday and climbed to second place in the Egyptian League standings, keeping pressure on Al Ahly and Al-Gaish.

The Suez-based side now have 16 points, one behind of leaders Al Ahly and level with Al-Gaish but they lead on goal difference.

Mohamed Samara put Petrojet ahead in the 21st minute before Waleed Soliman gave the hosts some breathing space two minutes into the second period.

Alaa Ibrahim, the League s top scorer, kept his goal-per-match performances, scoring his seventh goal in as many games to put the icing on the cake.

Ahmed Abdel Zaher scored the consolation goal for Enppi on the hour mark.

In another match, Ahmed Hassan scored his fifth goal of the season to give Ghazl Mahalla a 1-1 draw with Harras Al-Hodoud.

Hassan s goal early in the second period cancelled out an effort from Ahmed Abdul-Ghani in the 36th minute.
