CAIRO: Amr Zaki has apologized to Zamalek board after making outspoken comments against his teammates following the team s disappointing 1-1 Egyptian League draw with bottom side Suez Cement.

I was furious when I said these comments, I couldn t control my temper. I was subjected to so much psychological pressure, the prolific striker told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

Following the draw against Cement, which almost ended Zamalek s hopes to compete for the league title, Zaki accused his teammates of lacking unity as well as not being faithful to their club.

The Cairo giants board instantly reacted, suspending him for one month as well as imposing an LE 45,000 fine on him.

I said these comments because I was anxious to see Zamalek regain their competitiveness. I care for this club, Zaki added.

The former Enppi man initially announced he would retire from professional football after suffering depression from Zamalek s continuous disappointing results.

However, despite insisting he will not backtrack on his decision, Zaki had a change of heart and decided to continue playing for the Whites.

He currently serves international duty with Egypt that will take on Botswana in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday.
