CAIRO: Egyptian playmaker Mohamed Abou Treika has been included in a list of 55 nominees from 31 countries issued by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) for the World s Most Popular Football Player in 2007.
The poll was posted on the IFFHS official website Thursday morning and the voting will be open until Jan. 3. The winner will be announced later during the Fifa Gala.
The list included six Arab players: Saudi Yasser Al-Qahtani (Hilal), Tunisian Amin Chermiti (Etoile du Sahel), Iraqi Younes Mahmoud (Al-Gharafa), Emirate Ismail Mater (Al-Wehda) and Abou Treika.
And from Africa, Ivorian Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Cameroon Samuel Eto o (Barcelona) and Malian Frederic Kanoute (Sevilla) are also competing.
