CAIRO: Zamalek defender Wissem El-Abdi has been handed a three-match suspension by the Egyptian FA after being sent-off in his side s 1-1 draw with Suez Cement.
The Tunisian defender was handed a straight red card in the first-half after hitting Mohamed Al-Saghir s chest with his boot in an off-ball challenge.
El-Abdi has been also fined LE 2000 for the unsporting behavior, the Egyptian Football Association announced on their official website on Wednesday.
The former Sfaxien man will miss Zamalek s Egyptian League games against Masri, Ghazl Mahalla and Harras Al-Hodoud.
Amr Al-Safti is expected to start in the Cairo giants match against Masri on Saturday, given the absence of the injured Karim Zekri and El-Abdi.
