CAIRO: ExxonMobil Egypt celebrated Tuesday the arrival of the new Mobilgear 600 XP Series of premium industrial gear oils to the Egyptian market.
Mobilgear 600 XP is formulated to protect industrial gearboxes. It can help increase productivity, enabling different industries to become more competitive.
“Gearbox technology has developed significantly in recent years. As a result, maintenance experts are demanding higher-performance gear oils that can enhance the durability and performance of gearboxes, said Ayman El-Sabaa, manager of ExxonMobil Egypt’s Industrial Line of Business, during the launch.
With its advanced and balanced formulation, Mobilgear 600 XP delivers unrivaled performance over the long-term even under the most demanding operating conditions and exceeds the most challenging industry specifications.
“At the same time, gearbox equipment manufacturers continue to introduce new specifications and equipment designs which impose higher demands on gear lubricants, El-Sabaa said.
The new product promises to minimize wear and enhance the performance of all critical gearbox components including gears, bearings and seals.
Mobilgear 600 XP also helps control micropitting (a form of gear wear) while improving bearing and corrosion protection compatible with commonly used gearbox sealing materials.
It also significantly reduces the formation of oil degradation by products that often lead to frequent oil changes.
“Maintenance and production experts continue to seek ways to increase productivity and reduce maintenance costs by maximizing the reliability of their equipment. Mobilgear 600 XP offers them a huge advantage in this quest, El-Sabaa said.
ExxonMobil was created in 2000, as a result of a merger between Esso Standard Near East and Mobil Oil Egypt, building on a rich history which started more than 100 years ago when the Vacuum Oil Company Trade (Mobil’s predecessor) was registered in Egypt. The company has maintained both Mobil and Esso brands across the country.
Speaking at a podium in front of a banner that reads “What You Don’t See Can Hurt You, Mohamed Nabil, ExxonMobil Egypt’s Field Engineering Support manager, gave a thorough technical presentation explaining the phases the oil went through, starting from the research phase to the production.
“Mobilgear 600XP series exceeds the industry requirement for bearing wear protection. In fact, it provides up to 15 times the wear protection as measured by the industry standard FAG FE 8 test, Nabil said.
In their research phase, gear oil customers were asked what their gear oil needed. “They responded as follows: gear oil is the most stressed lubricant, gear oils are the lubricants they would like to see improved, Nabil said.
Hence, to keep pace with the evolution of gear box technology, as well as the higher power density, bearing demand and metallurgy changes, the 600XP was developed to provide “extra protection for gears, bearing and seals. This will provide the customer with a higher value by helping increase productivity.
Comparisons were made between the new product and the currently-used Mobil 600 series, proving that the XP version leads to an overall productivity improvement.
“The current Mobil 600 series is the best in the world, imagine if that is our base, and the XP is better than that, El-Sabaa said.
Globally the Mobil 600 XP needs to be 15 percent higher in price than that of the Mobil 600 to hit the market. “However, Egypt is an exception and I take full responsibility that we will launch the new XP with the same price, he conclud
