The 6th edition of the Arab-Euro Film Caravan – entitled Documentaries & Shorts – returns with a collection of documentary features, short documentaries, and short narratives.
Heading the main documentary features section is British director Lucy Walker s Blingsight, winner of the Berlin Film Festival s Panorama Audience award. The film tells the story of six blind Tibetan teenagers who set out to climb the 23,000 ft mountain right next to Mount Everest.
Other highlights include Germany s How to Cook Your Life about a Zen priest in San Francisco and a cookbook author using Zen Buddhism and cooking to relate to everyday life; and Austria s Rumi, Poetry of Islam about the life of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, the 13th century Persian Muslim poet, jurist, and theologian who founded the principles of Sufism.
The Caravan will also present the outcome products of the recently held documentary filmmaking workshop in Tunisia.
The 24 screening films will feature a large number of short documentaries and narratives from several Arab countries including Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Palestine along with a small group of co-productions.
The 6th edition of the Arab-Euro Film Caravan kicks off on the 4th and ends on the 8th. All screenings will be held at the Cairo Opera House s Artistic Creativity Center. For more information, visit www.cinemacaravan.com
