CAIRO: Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sent a letter to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), baring the Pharaohs from participating in the Pan Arab Games on home soil.

CAF stressed that all African Cup of Nations participants are not allowed to take part in any tournament before Africa s showpiece kicks-off on Jan. 20.

The national teams are only allowed to play friendly matches, the African governing body added.

An EFA official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com that the Association will discuss the matter during the coming few days to make a final decision.

The EFA have initially refused to enter the Arab Games with Egypt s senior team, but their stance was heavily opposed by the Egyptian Higher Council for Sport (HSC).

The HSC insisted that the participation of Egypt s senior team is necessary for the success of the tournament.

However, the latest developments could see the HSC acquiesce to EFA s wish of not including the senior players in the Arab Games.
