RAFAH: Three Egyptian brothers were killed on Monday as a landmine exploded in Sinai, close to the border with Israel, in the second such incident since August, security services said.
Mamdouh Selim Al-Dalah, 19, and his brothers Shaaban, 15, and Ibrahim, 12, died in the blast in Wadi Al-Umor, the source said.
It was not known if the boys were handling the mine before it detonated or if other factors caused the blast.
In August, three other Egyptian brothers were killed by a landmine they found half-buried in the sand near the Suez Canal city of Ismailiya in the north of the country.
Egypt is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world, with millions of Egyptian and Israeli landmines in the Sinai from the wars of 1967 and 1973 adding to millions more laid in the Western Desert during World War II.
