CAIRO: Al Ahly will provide evidence to CAF showing that a match-fixing occurred during the Champions League final, the Egyptian champions said on Wednesday.

The Red Devils missed out on winning the prestigious title for an unprecedented third successive time after losing to Etoile Sahel 3-1 in the final at Cairo Stadium.

The match was marred by some controversial decisions from Moroccan referee Abderrahim El-Arjoune, who denied Al Ahly two clear penalties.

Al Ahly have recently filed a complaint to CAF over the referee s decisions but the latest developments fuelled rumors the official could be involved in a corruption scandal.

We have found a photo in which El-Arjoune was spotted meeting with Etoile vice-president Jalel Krifa in France capital Paris, Al Ahly said in a statement on their official website.

Once we receive the photo, we will send it to CAF to launch their investigations and find out the truth behind what happened in the Champions League final.

Al Ahly believe there were several incidents which showed Etoile officials were certain they would bring the trophy to Sousse.

Krifa said before the second-leg that Al Ahly s chances to win the title do not exceed 35 percent, although the first-leg ended goalless in Tunisia.

Etoile s former board members as well as suspended players all accompanied the team in their trip to Cairo, because they were sure their side would win.
