CAIRO: Al-Gaish were held to a goalless draw by Baladeya in the Egyptian League on Wednesday as they continued to drop points for the second successive game.
Minnows Baladeya, now on 11 points from 10 games, kept an airtight defense to snatch a precious point from the league leaders.
Despite the draw, Gaish are still in charge of the table with 23 points.
But they are now threatened to lose the summit to second-placed Petrojet, who are just one point behind with a match in hand.
Petrojet edged 2-1 past Gaish in October to ignite the title race.
Both teams have been pleasant surprises for Egyptian fans this season by keeping their good form for as long as the 10th match day.
Defending champions Al Ahly are third with 18 points from eight games.
Traditional title challengers Zamalek and Ismaili come fourth and fifth respectively.
