CAIRO: Al Ahly assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said that more focus will be devoted to youth team players during the 2008 African Cup of Nations break in January.
Several Al Ahly players will be away on international duty with Egypt for the Ghana finals, due to start on Jan. 20.
We are willing to promote a number of players from the youth academy in the upcoming period, Al-Badri told Al Ahly s official site.
We are already monitoring some promising talents from the U-20 and U-18 teams, and they will have an opportunity in our Arab tour next January.
It is important that the youth academy is working parallel to the first team, and we had a meeting with youth coaches to assure that. Al Ahly have been frequently accused of letting go youth academy graduates for free, the latest of which was Zamalek new signing Sherif Ashraf.
