The award-winning “Ptolomeo and Family bookshelves are now available in Cairo, giving readers who own a lot of books and little storage space a stylish solution.
For any literature fan books always seem to pile up, but with Bruno Rainaldi’s sleek playful designs, the piles quickly become skyscrapers. When the shelves are full the minimalist bookcase almost disappears, leaving what looks like an impossibly high stack of books. The shelves are available in stainless steel base and black steel sheets or with the structure made of black iron, with the base in mirror steel. The Ptolomeo shelves turn stacks of books into paper architecture.
The units are available in three designs. The PtolomeoX4 is 188 cm tall and 52×52 around. It is a rotating block unit that holds 80-95 books on 14 shelves when full, creating an impressive stack of literature. The second design, the PtolomeoX2, is a standalone structure 192cm tall and 30×49 around and holds two tiers of 65-80 books. Finally, Diwan is offering a black steel standalone shelf that comes in two sizes: one that is 160 cm tall and the other is 215 cm tall, these are great as CD racks.
All the shelves come with magnetized clips to keep your items safely in place.
Designer Bruno Rainaldi won the Adi-Compasso D’Oro Award for the Ptolomeo shelves in 2004, and has gained international recognition for his variety of shelving and lamp designs.
