CAIRO: Al Ahly coach Manuel Jose has yet again lamented the fixtures pile-up, which force his players to have a match every 48 hours, speaking ahead of the 1-0 win over Al-Gaish on Friday.
Obviously we are happy with the three points, but the players are in need of rest, we have played 12 games in 24 days, which means a match every 48 hours, Jose said.
The fixture congestion problem here is even bigger than in Europe, this could be negative for the Egypt team as well.
The Portuguese manager has persistently blamed the non-stop schedule, as he vows to apply squad rotation system in order to solve the problem.
We will try rest some key players from time to time, like we did with (Mohamed) Abou-Treika against Gaish, he added.
Jose opted to keep his star man Abou-Treika on the bench on Friday, despite missing influential midfielder Mohamed Barakat to injury.
