Egypt Air offers special flight to Ghana for Cup final

CAIRO: Egypt’s national carrier EgyptAir, has arranged a special service to Ghana on Sunday Feb. 10 offering reduced fares for soccer aficionados to attend the African Cup final between Egypt and Cameroon.

Ahmed Shobeir, former national team goal keeper and anchor of a football show on local Channel 2, said on Thursday that Minister of Civil Aviation Ahmed Shafik had announced the availability of the EgyptAir flight after Egypt’s national team beat Ivory Coast 4-1 in what is said to be one of the best games in the championship.

According to EgyptAir’s information desk, the special flight will cost LE 1,800 (down from the usual LE 3,000) including the price of the game ticket, transportation from the airport to the stadium and back.

The six-hour flight is scheduled to take off at 8am Sunday, Cairo time, arriving in Ghana at 12:15 pm, Ghana time. The flight back takes off three hours after the game ends.
