CAIRO: FIFA have sent a letter to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to confirm the availability of suspended winger Shikabala, according to Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas.

Shikabala was handed a six-month ban and a ?990,000 fine for making an illegitimate move from Greek side PAOK Saloniki to Zamalek.

Upon the Cairo giants appeal, The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) froze the ban until announcing their final ruling regarding the transfer wrangle.

The EFA warned Zamalek of fielding the talented winger against Rwanda s APR in the Champions League as they insisted they were yet to be contacted by FIFA.

However, Abbas claims the EFA have finally received a confirmation letter from FIFA on Saturday.

One of the EFA officials told me that FIFA assured them Shikabala can play on temporary basis, Abbas told Zamalek s official website.

The news comes as a boost to Zamalek Dutch coach Ruud Krol, who opted not to play the 21-year-old in the 2-1 victory over APR in the Champions League opener.
