CAIRO: Zamalek captain Hazem Emam has highlighted the importance of the team s recent 4-1 victory over Suez Cement in the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals.

The 10-man Whites bounced back from a goal down to claim an emphatic win over the in-form Cement, and Emam was glad to see his team regain the winning spirit.

The way by which we won the game was great, we were a goal down, a man down, but we managed to win by four goals, he told FilGoal.com.

I think the victory helped us regain our confidence and get back to winning before the Ahly game.

Zamalek s miserable season in the league limited their ambitions to winning the cup, even with the elimination of top rivals Ahly and Ismaili.

It would have been very difficult for us if we lost in the Cup, it is our only hope and I couldn’t imagine how we would have survived this blow, added the talented playmaker.

Zamalek will face Arab Contractors on Monday, before locking horns with champions and leaders Ahly next weekend.

Even though the gap between Zamalek and Ahly is no less than 17 points, but the Cairo derby has always been a special occasion for both sides.
