CAIRO: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Sunday that Egypt s U-19 team will represent the country in the first African Nations Championship.

The U-19 team will take part in the tournament s qualifiers because Egypt s first team will be busy participating in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, the EFA said in a statement.

The EFA also stated that U-19 team coach Miroslav Soukup could use some experienced players in the tournament, which will be held in Ivory Coast next year.

The new African competition will only feature footballers playing inside the Africa, and should be played every two years.

Egypt will face either Tunisia or Libya in the second round of the competition s qualifiers.

The tournament is considered a good preparation for the Pharaohs U-19 team, who are set to take part in the 2009 U-20 World Cup on home soil.
