CAIRO: Egypt midfielder Mohamed Shawky revealed that he has been asked to play as a central defender against Argentina on Wednesday.

The coach (Hassan Shehata) started the game with a 4-4-2 formation as he was expecting Argentina to play with a lone striker. I was playing in midfield alongside Ahmed Hassan and Hosni Abd-Rabou, Shawky told FilGoal.com.

But they played with two strikers in front and Shehata asked me to get back to defense instead of making an early substitution, added the Middlesbrough midfielder.

Sergio Aguero, who scored the opening goal, and Julio Cruz led the Argentinean front line.

I am quiet satisfied with my performance and the coaching staff praised me after the game. We didn t make any marking mistakes and we are not to blame for both goals.

The 27-year old midfielder will be back to England on Thursday to join Middlesbrough s preparations for their crucial clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
