CAIRO: Zamalek climbed to second spot in the Egyptian League table after beating Al-Gaish 2-1 at Military Academy on Saturday.

The Cairo giants fell behind to Yassin Abdel Aal s early goal.

Abdel Aal rushed to salute a banner featuring a picture of Al-Gaish midfielder Ibrahim Adawi, who died in a car crash on Thursday.

Zamalek managed to overturn the score in the second-half, thanks to two goals from Mohamed Aboul-Ella and Mohamed “Shikabala Abdel Razek.

The result put Zamalek in second place with 37 points, one ahead of Al-Gaish and Petrojet, who both have a game in hand.

The men in white are looking to finish as runners-up in order to play in the Champions League next season as Al Ahly have virtually guaranteed a fourth successive league title.
