CAIRO: Barclays Bank Egypt recently opened its 53rd Egypt branch in Sharm El-Sheikh.
South Sinai Governor and Deputy Governor of the Red Sea Mohamed Hany Metwally, was there to cut the ribbon. Last week, he also attended the launch of the Hurghada branch.
Khalid El Gibaly, managing director of Barclays Egypt and North Africa, said the opening of the Sharm El-Sheikh branch was “another step towards bringing banking services to the doorsteps of the Egyptian people nationwide.
He also praised the positive investment climate and favorable business environment in the country.
The bank has diversified its business portfolio and expanding its network rapidly over the past 11 months, and El Gibaly reaffirmed Barclays commitment to play an active role in the economic development of Egypt. The bank will invest in the opening of more branches, recruiting and training the best calibers, according to a press statement.
In conjunction with the launch of the Hurghada branch, the bank has increased its number of employees to more than 1500.
