H&M to open in Cairo

H & M, Hennes & Mauritz, the international fashion retailer, will soon be available to eager fashionistas in Cairo. The store will open on June 5 in the new extension of CityStars mall.

The expansion of the trendy high street brand into the Egyptian market is a result of H&M’s partnership with M.H. Alshaya, one of the Middle East’s leading retailers.

“We are very excited to introduce H&M to the Egyptian market. We believe the brand will rapidly become a popular choice as it has done in other parts of the region. The wide assortment on offer coupled with the introduction of new garments into the store everyday will be something unique in Cairo and will enhance shoppers’ experience, said Mohammed Al Shaya, chairman of M.H. Alshaya Company.

H&M was originally established in Sweden in 1947 and is synonymous with affordable high quality fashion. H&M has a wide product range for women, men, teenagers, children and cosmetics. The company’s clothing collections are created by its own designers, pattern makers and buyers. H&M has around 68,000 employees and over 1,500 H&M-stores in 28 countries.

Based in Kuwait M.H.Alshaya is one of the leading retail companies operating in the Middle East; and is the franchisee for more than 40 International retail brands including H&M, Starbucks Coffee, Mothercare, Debenhams, Boots, The Body Shop and Foot Locker.

“The new H&M store at Stars Centre will cover an impressive 3,500 square meters, spreading over two floors. added Jazz Hayer, business director of H&M in the Middle East.

The fashion retailer will showcase its newest collections including the spring/summer collection. The collection is inspired by new production possibilities and materials that allow for a better function, comfort and fit.

These developments have motivated the design team at H&M to create a spring collection of classic favorites, updated and refined with new materials and cuts, and with clothes and accessories influenced by the Orient, Asia and Africa.

Choose from tailored looks such as the suite and shirt and fine-knit classics such as the cardigan, the slipover or the V-neck. Alternatively, update your look with retro couture or with minimal yet perfect details.

1920’s oriental patterns and embellished shirts, tunics and dresses worn with harem pants or linen and khaki separates complete the look and combines fashion history and global street style from all over the world in a single trend.

Shoppers will be spoiled for choice as they choose from a selection of accessories including turbans, straw hats, couture scarves, obi belts, wood jewellery, sandals, ballerinas and Mary Janes.

The men’s collection is just as varied, offering caps, line scarves, hankies, canvas bags, sunglasses, canvas belts, leather belts, sneakers, sandals, lace-ups and loafers.

Also available will be H&M’s organic collection which utilizes more than 1,500 tons of cotton and features colors and designs inspired by the 60s and 70s.
