CAIRO: Egyptian Football Association (EFA) competitions committee suspended Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Aboul-Ella for an indefinite period after he made an obscene gesture towards his own fans.
The competitions committee decided to suspend Mohamed Aboul-Ella from playing with Zamalek, read a statement carried by the EFA official website.
He will not be able to play until the EFA further investigates the incident.
Aboul-Ella was replaced in the second-half of Zamalek s 1-1 draw with Arab Contractors after a poor show, making way for Ahmed Abdel Raouf.
The 28-year-old was insulted by his own fans when he walked off the pitch. He responded by raising his middle finger.
Zamalek also suspended Aboul-Ella for an indefinite period and handed him an LE 20,000 fine.
EFA president Samir Zaher recently insisted that Aboul-Ella will be heavily sanctioned for his inappropriate behavior.
