JERUSALEM: Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni will attend the World Economic Forum on the Middle East at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt, a senior official said on Sunday.
US President George W. Bush, after his three-day visit to Israel, is scheduled to deliver remarks at the forum next Sunday.
Livni was invited by Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Israeli official said.
It remained unclear who Livni will meet in Egypt, but her talks were expected to focus on peace negotiations with the Palestinians, which she heads on the Israeli side, as well as efforts to bring calm to the Gaza Strip.
Intelligence director Omar Suleiman will visit Israel Monday to present an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire proposal, signed by 12 Palestinian factions, for the Islamist Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
Israel has said it will examine the proposal without making any promises to accept the deal. -AFP
