CAIRO: Mamdouh Abu-Sri’e, a notorious downtown burglar, is specialized in stealing from properties in crowded areas.

The relatively handsome Mamdouh arouses no suspicion as he roams the streets day and night. He is smart and extremely bold.

With a clean criminal record, he works best in Downtown Cairo. This is where he was raised and he knows every nook and cranny in the area.

Mamdouh mastered the art of breaking into homes at an older age, putting his cunning ways to work to make an initial sum of money that he hoped would catapult him to a legitimate job.

He used to break into empty apartments after hours of watching them and even entering them many times to get familiar with the place, the doormen and residents.

The moment he decides the time is right for his next operation, he would break in, steal the most precious items, and leave unnoticed.

Within a short time, he managed to steal LE 300,000 from five apartments. It was then that he decided to start his own business project and quit his “interim vocation.

After buying a shop in his neighborhood, he decided to carry out his last operation to purchase the goods needed he planned to sell in his new store. But he wasn’t so lucky this time. Cairo police caught him red-handed while he was breaking into a house on Sherif Street.

When the owner of his last target died and his children moved to Nasr City, Mamdouh broke in the moment the doorman left. What he didn’t know was that one of the neighbors had seen him and called the police, who caught him in the act. He soon confessed to all his crimes and the dreams he once had.
